Modern Warfare Season 1 Release Date | Start time, new content, and more

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launched with tons of great content for players to enjoy, some of which haas already come out. However, Activision isn’t stopping there, promising the “biggest free content drop in Call of Duty history” is yet to come with the release on Season 1. So, here is everything we know about the Modern Warfare Season 1 release date, start time, new content, and more.

Modern Warfare Season 1 | Release Date and start time

Modern Warfare Season 1

Modern Warfare will be kicking off Season 1 on December 3, 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The launch of the first season of Modern Warfare will be the beginning steps in the new effort to remove loot boxes from the game and introduce a new battle pass system, similar to FortniteUnfortunately, we don’t have an exact Modern Warfare Season 1 start time, but it seems safe to assume that it will likely be the morning of December 3.

With Modern Warfare Season 1, players will have the opportunity to join the premium battle pass (or the free version), while also be able to enjoy loads of free content that Activision has planned for players in the coming months. Additionally, unlike previous games in the Call of Duty franchise, the launch of Modern Warfare Season 1 will be releasing across all platforms on the same day, as opposed to one platform getting an exclusive first look.

Modern Warfare Season 1 | New weapons and maps

It is bold to call Modern Warfare Season 1 the biggest free content drop-in CoD history, but it looks like Activision is backing it up. A tweet from the official Call of Duty Twitter page has offered players a detailed look at everything that will be coming to the game with the launch of the new season.

There will be two new weapons added into Modern Warfare with the launch of Season 1, the Ram-7 and Holger-26. Both of these weapons will be free to players, even if they elect to play on the free battle pass.

Next up are six Modern Warfare maps, all of which can be seen in the list below.

  • Crash (Multiplayer)
  • Vacant (Multiplayer)
  • Shipment (Multiplayer)
  • Port (Gunfight)
  • Cargo (2v2)
  • Atrium (2v2)

As you can see above, there are three maps coming to Multiplayer, one coming to Gunfight, and two coming to 2v2. Activision has also announced that there will be more maps headed to the 2v2 mode, but it’s unclear if they will be available at the launch of Season 1 or at a later date. You’ll also notice that there are some familiar maps from last entries in that set.

Modern Warfare Season 1 | New experiences and modes

Activision also plans to bring at least four new Special Ops experiences to the game. Bomb Squad, Grounded, Pitch Black, and Just Reward are all new experiences that have been confirmed for Modern Warfare Season 1. Similar to the new maps, Activision is promising that more experiences are coming, but it’s unclear when they will come out.

To wrap up the big Season 1 content drop, there will be three new game modes added to Modern Warfare — Reinforce, Gunfight OSP, and Infected. Long-time fans of Call of Duty will familiar with the Infected and Reinforce game modes. Infected tasks one infected player with exposing the rest of the lobby to a deadly disease, while Reinforce is a combination of Domination and Search and Destroy. Further, Gunfight OSP is similar to traditional Gunfight but will task players with finding the needed weapons on the map and Reinforce.

With only a few days left until the release of Modern Warfare Season 1, make sure to keep an eye on GameRevolution for a variety of helpful guides.
