For Honor Zhanhu’s Gambit Event | New game mode, customization options, and more

Ubisoft has revealed the For Honor Zhanhu’s Gambit event, which you can play on PS4, Xbox One, and PC right now. While other games are content with your usual Christmas-themed end-of-year events, For Honor is doing things a little differently with its Y3S4 event. In this guide, we’ll take a look at the Zhanhu’s Gambit event limited-time game mode, new customization options, rewards, and more.

For Honor Zhanhu’s Gambit Event | Start time and end date

For Honor Zhanhu’s Gambit event

As stated above, the Zhanhu’s Gambit event is available to play right now across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The event will end soon, however, on January 2, 2020. For Honor’s Zhanhu’s Gambit event will end at the following times on January 2:

  • 6 AM Pacific
  • 9 AM Eastern
  • 2 PM GMT
  • 2 PM UTC
  • 3 PM CET

ALSO: Yes, Fortnite is referenced in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

The limited-time game mode and Weekly Quests will stop at the times listed above on January 2, 2020. You will have, however, at the same times listed above on January 6, 2020, to purchase Zhanhu’s Gambit Bundles (which contain limited event customization items). Once that time has passed, the event items are gone.

What’s in the For Honor Zhanhu’s Gambit event?

Emperor’s Escape

The Zhanhu’s Gambit event is bringing with it a brand-new, limited-time game mode. This is The Emperor’s Escape game mode. In this limited-time event mode, you will have to help Sun Da evacuate the Qiang Pass while defending the Wu Lin Emperor from harm. Sounds stressful. You’ll need to defend the Emperor from cursed Blackstone warriors and by conquering different zones on the map.

Emperor’s Escape is a four-player PvE mode. You’ll need to work together to reach the end of the Qiang Pass and to defeat the Blackstone commander, too. You’ll earn event-specific customization items such as Effects, Ornaments, and Outfits (available for every Hero type) by playing the mode.

Other Event Modes & Rewards

On top of this is the Faction Competition. Take part in this to earn the following rewards:

  • 1st Place: 2000 Steel + Symbol
  • 2nd Place: 1000 Steel + Symbol
  • 3rd Place: 500 Steel + Symbol

Weekly Quest completion should earn you event rewards, too. Indeed, through playing any standard PvP, PvAI, and PM modes you will be able to earn yourself event-specific loot. This includes playing any of the currently available ranked modes, too.

For Honor Zhanhu’s Gambit event

Playing through any mode in For Honor during the Zhanhu’s Gambit event should earn you event-specific items to equip to your character. This includes new symbols to unlock. You will need to play through either The Emperor’s Escape or Arcade Weekly Quests to unlock Sun Da’s Spirit symbol, however. Completing any match, however, you might randomly receive one of the following event items:

  • Battle Outfit: Gao Lei’s Warrior
  • Emote Effect: Gao Lei’s Ultimate
  • Execution Effect: Gao Lei’s Ultimate
  • Idle Effect: Gao Lei’s Ultimate
  • Ornament: Gao Lei’s Keepsake

There is a new weapon set (made up of three parts) to unlock for each of For Honor’s 26 playable characters. Thankfully, there are a few ways to unlock these weapon set parts. You may find that a weapon part will drop during a playthrough of any mode, in Scavenger Crates, and as rewards at the end of matches completed during the Zhanhu’s Gambit event. Unfortunately, you won’t get these weapon parts in Zhanhu’s Gambit bundles.

During the event (until January 6, 2020), you can purchase Zhanhu’s Gambit bundles for 45,000 Steel. If you happen to already own any of the following items before buying a Zhanhu’s Gambit bundle, however, the price will be reduced accordingly:

  • Battle Outfit: Gao Lei’s Warrior
  • Emote: Zhanhu’s Fire
  • Emote Effect: Gao Lei’s Ultimate
  • Execution Effect: Gao Lei’s Ultimate
  • Idle Effect: Gao Lei’s Ultimate
  • Illustrious Outfits: Sun Da’s Gambit
  • Illustrious Outfits: Qiang Emissary
  • Ornament: Gao Lei’s Keepsake

As soon as you buy a bundle, you will receive all of the above items for one Hero. Again, the bundle will be cheaper if you already own one of the items. Also, for 20,000 Steel each, you can buy the two Illustrious Outfits above for every Hero separately. The Emotes in the bundle can be purchased for 10,000 Steel separately, also. Now get out there and help the Emperor.
