Smash Ultimate 6.1.1 Update Patch Notes

Smash Ultimate 6.1.1 Update Patch Notes (January 8, 2020)

The Smash Ultimate 6.1.1 update patch notes for January 8 are now available to read. These detail the changes made by the new update, which players can experience once the new patch has been downloaded and installed to the system. The new Super Smash Bros Ultimate update should download automatically once the Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet. If this doesn’t work, the user can force the update by going into the game’s settings on the Nintendo Switch’s Home screen and selecting “Check for update.” Once the update is downloaded, it will then be installed. Smash Ultimate can then be booted up with the new patch applied.

Smash Ultimate 6.1.1 Update Patch Notes

It’s been a while since the big 6.0.0 update landed and made significant changes to the game. That was back in November. Is this new Smash Ultimate 6.1.1 update the next massive update? Well, the clue is in the number. No, unfortunately, it’s relatively minor, making only one change to the game. What’s more, it’s a change that many players won’t even notice.

If you’re into your Amiibo figures and plan to pick up Dark Samus and Richter, then you’ll be happy to learn that the Smash Ultimate 6.1.1 update prepares the game for those two new Amiibo. This means that, once they become available, the game will be ready to support both Dark Samus and Richter.

Ver. 6.1.1 (Released January 7, 2020)

  • Support for the upcoming Dark Samus and Richter amiibo figures has been implemented.

As mentioned, this update is pretty minor in the grand scheme of Smash, but I’m sure some players will be happy to learn that support for upcoming Amiibos has been confirmed and implemented ahead of schedule. At the very least, it’s a small update that shouldn’t take too long for you to download. Then you can get playing again!
