Are there Nintendo Switch Achievements?

Steam for PC and Microsoft’s Xbox consoles both offer Achievement integration in all of their games, while the Sony PlayStation platform has an equivalent in Trophies. Seemingly, that leaves Nintendo well and truly out in the cold. Are there already ways to unlock Achievements on Switch, though? And will we ever see Nintendo Switch Achievements integrated across all titles? Stick with this guide for more.

Can you unlock Nintendo Switch Achievements?

Unfortunately, Nintendo doesn’t support an integrated Nintendo Switch Achievements system. This means that there are no universal rewards that tie to your Nintendo Switch profile, as has come to exemplify Achievements and Trophies across other platforms. There are, however, certain Switch titles in which the developers have implemented in-game Achievements as a stand-in. Additionally, two games currently feature Xbox Live integration including full Xbox Achievement support.

If you’re curious to learn what Switch games feature in-game Achievements — remember, these don’t track outside of the respective games — UnicornLasagna is compiling a work in progress list of titles on Reddit. There are plenty of heavy hitters on the list, including Nintendo exclusives like Fire Emblem Warriors, Bayonetta 2, and Luigi’s Mansion 3.

Meanwhile, the two games with Xbox Live Achievement support are Minecraft and Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition. While more Xbox Game Studios titles like Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Cuphead, and Super Lucky’s Tale have also made their way onto Nintendo’s hybrid handheld, none of those games currently feature Xbox Live Achievement integration.
