How to find the Gerbil Took the Top Head item locations in the Control AWE DLC

The Control Gerbil Took the Top Head item locations may seem like gibberish to anyone, even those who have played the game. But it’s a mission in the AWE DLC for Control that tasks you with finding the “head.” So how do you find the head? Buckle in because this one is a orange slice down by the chicken feed on a weighty Sunday Christmas party.

First off, this mission is in front of the holding cell on the left side of the Fra Mauro AWE section the DLC. Once you talk to the troubled… thing, you’re going to want to stay in this big room for the first few stages.

The first item (although the order for these items doesn’t quite matter) it wants is in the Mobile Lab 1, which is, again, in that big Fra Mauro AWE room.

Go inside and grab the toilet paper roll. Then go back to the prisoner.

It turns out that that isn’t the head. Now you’ll want to go to the Mobile Lab 2 in that same room.

Wrong! Now go back to Mobile Lab 1. Pick up the dragon in a box. Go back to the guy.

Sorry, that’s not it either! Go to Mobile Lab 1 again and go grab the bottle on the desk. Maybe this is it? Report back.

Nope again! Back to Mobile Lab 2. Grab the basketball on the ground. That’s sort of like a head, right? Go back to the prisoner and see.

Try again. That’s no head! Now it’s pretty mad so you’ll need to go somewhere else. Somewhere with a… head? Exactly. Go to the Sector Head Office through the Sealed Firebreak Control Point.

From there, turn around and go back to the beginning of the area (not the big hall). Kill the enemies that spawn and go into the office on the second floor above the orange glowing pocket source socket.

There it is! You’ll see the “head” on the desk. It would have been easier if it said “astronaut helmet” but it wouldn’t have been very Control if it was that straightforward.

Here’s the map of exactly where it is. Go back to the prisoner in the Fra Mauro AWE and it will give you a Shaded Facet and a weapon mod.

Essentially, to find the head in the Control AWE DLC:

  • Go to the Fra Mauro AWE.
  • Talk to the prisoner on the left side of the room.
  • Go back and forth between Mobile Lab 1 and Mobile Lab 2 in that room and grab objects every time.
  • Go back to the prisoner after grabbing an item.
  • After five “wrong” items, go to the Sector Head Office.
  • Grab the astronaut helmet in the offices.
  • Report back to the prisoner.
