Are there any Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War microtransactions? As with Modern Warfare before it, it appears like the latest CoD game is heading down the same path when it comes to microtransactions with items such as the Battle Pass and cosmetics like Skins seemingly available for purchase. Microtransactions in Black Ops Cold War should not be terrible for players, with loot boxes apparently getting the chop.
Are there microtransactions in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War?
Microtransactions in CoD: Black Ops Cold War look to be about as inoffensive as players can reasonably expect in modern online games. Items such as the Battle Pass (expected for each new season) and Skins look to be about all players will be able to spend real-life money on in-game. The removal of loot boxes looks to carry on from the Modern Warfare reboot. Thanks to sister-site PlayStation Lifestyle, Treyarch is Rick Rolling folks thinking they have found code for loot boxes in the game. And, yes, the game does have a Zombies mode.
As of writing (with the game set to release on November 13, 2020), it’s difficult to say exactly what microtransactions will be available in Black Ops Cold War. Based on the official website, however, it’s known that the game will feature Battle Passes. Presumably, in each in-game Season, a new Battle Pass will be available to buy. Aside from this, though, it’s unclear what will be available to purchase.
Black Ops Cold War does have themed packs (containing Operator Skins, Vehicle Skins, and Weapon Blueprints). The Land, Sea & Air Pack is included as part of the Ultimate Edition of the game. As of writing, though, it’s unknown if packs such as this can be bought. When the game launches, of course, this will be common knowledge. It is expected, however, that cosmetic items such as Skins and themed packs will be available to buy.
When it comes to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War microtransactions, it seems the game is following the successful blueprint of Modern Warfare. The two games share the Warzone mode, after all. Free post-game content such as maps and modes will come to the game. Battle Passes and presumably skins will be the only forms of microtransactions in the game.
