Ark: Survival Evolved is a perfect game to play online with friends. One of the best ways for developers to accommodate that is through the addition of crossplay. But, is Ark crossplay? Can PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS users play together? Here’s the latest on Ark: Survival Evolved cross-platform support in 2021.
Is Ark: Survival Evolved cross-platform play enabled?
As a survival game, Ark has a somewhat steep learning curve. Utilizing crossplay to play with friends online can make the process much easier, though. With many friend groups owning different hardware, that inevitably raises the question of whether or not cross-platform support allows everyone to play together. In the case of Ark, the answer depends on which versions and platforms users are hoping to combine.
Ark: Survival Evolved features cross-platform play between the Android and iOS mobile versions. Ark cross-play is also available between Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S and the Windows 10 PC versions. Crossplay is not available on any other combination of platforms in 2021.
PlayStation has no Ark: Survival cross-platform support on PS4 or PS5. The same goes for the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite console versions. Additionally, any PC version not purchased from Microsoft’s Windows 10 Store does not feature crossplay integration. As a result, the Steam and Epic Games Store builds are incompatible with Xbox consoles.
Although the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows 10, iOS, and Android versions all feature cross-platform play, the mobile versions can not crossplay with Win 10 or Xbox. Crossplay only functions within the same family of devices without any crossover — i.e. smartphones and tablets, then Microsoft Xbox and Windows 10 hardware.
