Is Venom 2 Rated R? Let There be Carnage age rating

Venom: Let There be Carnage is coming soon, and moviegoers are still wondering what audience it’s appropriate for. The film describes itself as sci-fi horror, centering around a dark and twisted supervillain. But, is Venom 2 Rated R? Or will it be PG-13 like the original? Here’s the latest on the Venom: Let There be Carnage age rating.

What is the Venom 2 age rating?

Is Venom 2 Rated R?

Venom: Let There be Carnage will most likely carry a PG-13 age rating.

At the time of writing, Venom 2 has not yet received an official age certification. A CinemaBlend interview with producer Matt Tolmach seems to indicate that Venom: Let There be Carnage will not be an R-rated movie, however.

Tolmach states that “[Venom] worked really well” and, as a result, there’s no real desire to fix what isn’t broken. The Venom: Let There be Carnage producer continues: “We have a place in the world. So, it isn’t like suddenly everybody’s considering what to do with the rating.”

Sticking to that established place likely indicates that Venom 2 will have a PG-13 rating. Judging by the new Venom: Let There be Carnage trailer (below), the proposed age certificate seems accurate. Although there’s a dark atmosphere and some horror elements, the trailer features no coarse language or particularly strong violence.

While audiences mostly enjoyed the original Venom, critics weren’t quite as keen. In fact, some even slapped it with the label of “Tom Hardy’s worst performance.” Hopefully, the sequel will fare better critically when it releases later this year.

Stay tuned for official updates on the Venom 2 age rating.

Disappointment seems to be the word of the day, as New Pokemon Snap is also kinda underwhelming.
