Is Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut Worth it

Is Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut worth it?

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut isn’t a free upgrade, which means some fans who have already played the original release are wondering whether it’s worth the extra money. Considering the relatively high price of the upgrade, fans who saw the conclusion to Jin’s adventure on Tsushima might not find the trip to Iki Island worth it. However, this is a tough decision which many won’t be able to make lightly.

Is Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut worth it if you played the original game?

Those that haven’t played Ghost of Tsushima will definitely want to go with the Director’s Cut. It replaces the base game and is the definitive version of the title. It’s priced at $59.99 on PS4 and $69.99 on PS5 and includes both the base game, the Legends multiplayer, and the Iki Island expansion.

However, those who have already played Ghost of Tsushima might be more wary of upgrading to the Director’s Cut. The price to upgrade is fairly high, especially for those who bought the original release at full price:

  • Users can upgrade the original PS4 version of the Director’s Cut for $19.99.
  • Users can upgrade the original PS4 version to the PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut for $29.99
  • The PS4 version of the Director’s Cut can be upgraded to the PS5 version at any time for $9.99.

Considering the fact that the base game doesn’t have any improvements that we know of that are exclusive to the Director’s Cut, playing it again on PS5 might not be too tempting. Iki Island, on the other hand, is a new, shorter adventure that dives into Jin’s past traumas and expands his backstory considerably that fans won’t want to miss.

Whether Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is worth it or not comes down to how much someone liked the original. Those who loved it will get more content with some great enhancements on the PS5. Unfortunately, those who didn’t likely won’t find what they’re looking for here.
