New World Abandoning Event message stuck on screen fix

New World Abandoning Event message stuck on screen fix

There are plenty of activities and events to undertake in New World. Most events will offer you a chance to explore, fight, or earn rewards. However, sometimes they aren’t really worth the trouble, so you’d sooner just leave. But now there’s a new problem, because the message saying you’re abandoning the event is stuck on screen and won’t go away. Is there any way to get this notification to disappear?

How to get rid of the Abandoning Event notification

How to get rid of the Abandoning Event notification

If the abandoning event message is stuck on your screen, you can usually fix it by leaving and re-entering a Corrupted Breach. Otherwise, you can get the abandoning event notification to disappear by restarting the game, or by leaving and re-joining the server.

Granted, this advice is merely a response to the issue itself. If you never abandon an event in the first place, you’ll never see the warning that it’s being abandoned. In this sense, if you know the notification tends to get stuck on the screen, do what you can to make sure it never appears to begin with.

Of course, chances are that if you’re reading this, the notification is already stuck on your screen. To fix it, you should be able to simply leave and re-enter a Corrupted area. This fix has been confirmed by the players themselves via the New World subreddit and the game’s official forums.

The other solutions are just as simple: Restart the game, or leave and re-join the server. The only catch is that getting in to New World can be tricky. Server wait times are a real thing, especially this early after launch. And though more servers are being added, many players are still often left waiting to login. Yet others are simply told the game can’t be initialized.

Your best bet to get the abandoning event message off your screen is to leave and re-enter a Corrupted Breach. Closing New World, or logging out of and back into the server, should also make the notification disappear. Still, until the developers can fix this bug, it would be wise to avoid any actions that might cause the notification to appear in the first place.
