The Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially started Phase 5 with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and is set to continue with Disney Plus series Secret Invasion. MCU fans know by now that alien race, the Skrulls, have infiltrated many aspects of life on Earth. It is that story that we expect this miniseries to delve into, but what is its release date? We delve into that, as well as the show’s trailers, cast, directors, leaks, and rumors.
When is the Secret Invasion release date?
Secret Invasion will be released on June 21, 2023, at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET on Disney Plus. The release date for the new Marvel series was spotted on the Disney Plus streaming platform, when exploring its page.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige unveiled the MCU’s Phase 5 slate at San Diego Comic Con last year (2022), where he revealed Secret Invasion would debut in spring 2023. It will be the second installment for Phase 5, and be followed up by Loki Season 2 later in the year.

Samuel L. Jackson is perhaps the biggest draw that Secret Invasion has among its star-studded cast. He will return to his long-running MCU role as Nick Fury, this time leading the project, rather than serving as a supporting character.
He will star opposite Ben Mendelsohn’s Skrull General, Talos. The pair worked together, when Fury asked him to return to Earth and impersonate him, delivering Tony Stark’s E.D.I.T.H. glasses to Peter Parker.
Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is new to the MCU, and plays Abigail Brand. In Marvel Comics, Abigail was born and raised on the planet Axus, to a woman from Earth and an alien father. She later became a special agent for the United States Government, before joining a subdivision of S.H.I.E.L.D., called S.W.O.R.D. As an ally to Fury and Talos in Secret Invasion, fans can expect the show to lean on Brand’s source material.
Secret Invasion directors
Secret Invasion has two directors: Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim. Exactly how many episodes of the six they will each direct has not yet been confirmed.
Secret Invasion trailer: What is the plot?
Nick Fury returns to Earth after being asked to do so for many years, explaining that the “fight” he is to take on is “different” to anything else. He says he is “the last person standing between them and what they really want.” Exactly what that may be, however, remains to be seen.
In the comic book series on which this show is based, the Skrulls have been infiltrating Earth for many years, even replacing some of the superheroes that the world has grown to love. Whether those replacements will carry over into the Disney Plus show hasn’t been confirmed, but expect to see some mighty twists and turns before the credits roll on the final episode.
Secret Invasion leaks suggest Daredevil and Ant-Man cameos
Alleged leaks (via Reddit) from a supposed special effects artist working on Secret Invasion suggest that both Daredevil and Ant-Man will appear in the Disney Plus series. They also say that the Falcon’s Captain America is set to star, before being unmasked as an evil Skrull.
One part of the show which the leaker says felt “huge,” was the addition of Zachary Quinto to the cast in a secret role. Not much is given away about his involvement, but they claim that he “was with Maria Hill in some kind of space car and they didn’t trust each other.”
These leaks, of course, have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Many MCU rumors have hit Reddit in the past, and proven to be false.
