The Rings of Power: Where Is Lindon in Middle-earth?

Now that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has finally made its debut on Prime Video, fans have many questions about the first two episodes they have seen. Whilst many of those inquiring minds want to know about the story and new characters, such as Charlie Vickers’ character Halbrand, others are wondering about some of the locations we’ll be seeing on screen. One of the most popular amongst those, is the Elven city of Lindon…

Where is Lindon in The Rings of Power?

Lindon is a region in Western Middle-earth, west of the Blue Mountains and founded by Elven High King Gil-galad. It serves as the passage between Middle-earth and the Elven realms of Valinor, where those who are deemed worthy are sent to live out a life of bliss. Thanks to its important location, Lindon is known for its harbors and Elven ships. A sea-arm named the Gulf of Lune divides Lindon into Forlindon, the north, and Harlindon, the south. The River Lune meanwhile, runs on the eastern border of the region.

Lindon acts as the home of Elven High King Gil-Galad at the start of The Rings of Power, as well as the future Lord of Rivendell, Elrond. It is where Galadriel makes her return after seeking out traces of remaining evil, before being bestowed the honor of relocating to Valinor. Of course, viewers now know that she absconded from that trip, instead vowing to hunt down and destroy Sauron once and for all. Serving as the connection point between Valinor and Middle-earth, Lindon is an extremely important location during the Second Age.

Some of the biggest Lord of the Rings fans may also recognize Lindon as one of the places Frodo visits during his quest to destroy the One Ring. At the end of The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Frodo ventures to the port of Grey Havens on the Gulf of Lune, where he then sets out to move West. Clearly, Lindon is one of the most active and integral locations in Middle-earth history. It’s going to be very interesting to see what else takes place there moving forward.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power continues Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
