The Diablo 4 Blood Knight is being searched heavily by fans interested in knowing whether there’s a new class for Season 1. Diablo 4 interestingly launched without any heavy armor knight class, leaving many players wondering if there would be some kind of Crusader, Paladin, or Dark Knight class added in the future. Diablo 4 Season 1 will begin on July 20 and comes with several new mechanics like Malignant Hearts, while carrying over many sources of renown from the main campaign. Here’s whether the Blood Knight is a new class for Diablo 4 Season 1.
Is the Diablo 4 Blood Knight a part of Season 1?
No, Blizzard has not announced the Diablo 4 Blood Knight as a new class, for Season 1 or otherwise. The Blood Knight is actually for Diablo Immortal.
Let’s clear up the confusion, because there was a lot of information that was announced during the Diablo Developer Update for July 2023 and some wires might have gotten crossed. The Blood Knight is releasing as a new class for Diablo Immortal on July 13 and, thus far, has nothing to do with Diablo 4. It is a cursed, mid-ranged class that incorporates vampiric attacks and abilities. Players can create a Blood Knight from scratch or use the Class Change feature of the game to transfer a character into the Blood Knight.
Meanwhile, Diablo 4 Season 1 will start on July 20 and will officially be called Season of the Malignant. It will not come with a new class at all. Instead, you will need to create a new seasonal character from the existing five classes and complete a new storyline involving a former Cathedral of Light priest called Cormond. He wants you to capture Malignant Hearts from corrupted enemies that can be inserted into your gear, much like gems, for unique bonuses not found in the main game.
That said, Blizzard has made a big deal about the Blood Knight being the first new class in the Diablo universe since the Crusader in 2014. So it’s possible that the it could become a new class in Diablo 4 sometime in the future, especially if it’s received positively by fans of Diablo Immortal. The character classes in Diablo 4 is missing some kind of knight, and given the nature of the game’s story, a Blood Knight fits the bill nicely.
