Starfield Mantis Puzzle Lair of the Mantis Word Solution

Starfield Mantis Puzzle: What Is The Lair of the Mantis Word Solution?

The Starfield Mantis puzzle asks players to figure out the secret word by stepping on the right letters in the Lair of the Mantis. The facility is intricately trapped, which has led to the deaths of many pirates by way of turrets. Stepping on the wrong tile will result in you triggering all of the high-level turrets on the other side of the room. Fortunately, there are more than several ways to get passed this death trap, and we’ve got the solution if you need it. Here’s how to solve the Lair of the Mantis word puzzle in Starfield. (Note that there are some minor spoilers ahead.)

What is the solution to the Starfield Mantis puzzle?

The following are the solutions to the Lair of the Mantis puzzle:

  • Step on the tiles to spell out “TYRANNIS” – There are eight rows of tiles on the floor, and you need to cross each row by stepping on the letters that correspond to the word “TYRANNIS”, starting with the letter ‘T’. Just walk over each letter slowly and steadily, and when you cross the last line, hit the button to activate the door.
  • Hack the turret console – If you can digipick Master-level locks, by having three ranks of the important Security skill, you can head to the console next to the chained entranceway to the puzzle. Crack it, and you can make the turrets friendly to you.
  • Make a mad dash – Worse case scenario, you can simply dash toward the door and press the switch. You might take a few bullets but that’s a small price to pay to get through the door fast.

Of course, you could just destroy the turrets. But they do quite a lot of damage and it’s not really worth the healing items to get rid of them.

If you’re lucky in the beginning of the game, you’ll find notes leading to the secret hideout of this mysterious superhero that targets pirates. We found these notes from the corpses of fallen Spacers, so if you explore enough facilities, you’ll eventually find them.
