Mortal Kombat 1 Unlock Second Fatality: How to Unlock Fatality 2

The Mortal Kombat 1 second Fatality offers yet another way for players to disembowel, crush, or slice their opponents into a bloody pile of mush. But those aren’t unlocked from the start. Here’s how to unlock the second Fatality in MK1.

Mortal Kombat 1 Fatality Inputs: How to Perform Fatalities

To unlock the second Fatality in Mortal Kombat 1, you have to level that certain character up to level 14. You can see this level at the end of every match underneath your profile experience bar, but you can also more intimately study it in the Mastery section of the menu. You can see the Mastery section in your profile options by pressing the button prompt near your player card on the main menu. Each character levels up independently, too.

The Mastery track only shows what the next few reward levels hold, but level 14 always has a Fatality for the main roster characters. Kameos do not have a second Fatality, and their first one is unlocked right from the start.

More Mortal Kombat 1

Getting to level 14 takes more than a few hours of concentrated play, but most modes provide experience that add to your total. Invasion and ranked Kombat League sets seem to give the most points (the former is much easier, though). Fatalities give some more experience, and Brutalities give slightly more.

However, you do not need to unlock the second Fatality in Mortal Kombat 1 in order to use it. Like in past games, you can just perform the Fatality if you know the input and do it correctly at the end of a match. The game does not save the input commands in the move list unless you are at or past level 14, so you will either have to write it down, commit it to memory, or visit our guide on all the Fatality inputs.

A: No, you don’t necessarily have to unlock the second Fatality to use it; if you know the correct input for the Fatality, you can execute it at the end of a match.
