Lords of the Fallen Upgrade Sanguinarix with Saintly Quintessence

Lords of the Fallen How to Upgrade the Sanguinarix: What are Saintly Quintessence Used For?

You’ll want to upgrade the Sanguinarix in Lords of the Fallen quickly, as it’s your primary form of healing. Like the Estus Flask in Dark Souls or the Flask of Crimson Tears in Elden Ring, this item has a limited number of charges that you can use to heal. While other items can restore your HP, this one is special as its charges are renewed every time you rest at a Vestige. While you start with only three charges, both the number of times you can use the Sanguinarix and how much it heals per use can be upgraded.

How to upgrade the Sanguinarix in Lords of the Fallen to have more charges and heal more

You’ll need to find Saintly Quintessences to upgrade the Sanguinarix in Lords of the Fallen. You’ll get one of these early on during the Umbral Tutorial and likely wonder what it’s for since it’s quite some time before you get the opportunity to use it.

More Guides

Before you can use the Saintly Quintessence to upgrade the Sanguinarix, you’ll need to face Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal, and beat her. She’ll then be reborn, and you can find her in Skyrest Bridge near the Vestige of Ethryg.

Each Saintly Quintessence raises the amount of HP the Sanguinarix heals per use, and every other upgrade adds an additional charge. For example, the first upgrade will bring the number of uses between rests to 4 and heals +20% more than the base version.

Unfortunately, these items can be tough to find. You’ll want to be scanning the world with your Umbral Lantern constantly. So far, we’ve found them exclusively in the torso-shaped containers you need to Soulflay to open, so make sure to keep an eye out for those if you want to upgrade your Sanguinarix to the max.
