Pokemon Scarlet Violet Indigo Disk Is Meloetta Shiny Locked

Pokemon SV Indigo Disk: Is Meloetta Shiny-Locked?

After her recent discovery, players wonder if Meloetta is shiny-locked in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. We already know that legendaries are, unfortunately, shiny-locked. Still, since Meloetta is a mythical Pokemon, it was thought her shiny form might be obtainable. We’ll look at whether you can get a Shiny Meloetta in the Indigo Disk DLC and how to catch her below.

Is Meloetta Shiny-Locked in the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Indigo Disk DLC?

Unfortunately, Meloetta is shiny-locked in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. No matter how often you spawn her in The Indigo Disk, she’ll never be shiny. It’s unfortunate this is the case because Meloetta’s shiny form has never been legitimately available. So, any shiny Meloetta you see is hacked.

Seeing Meloetta as a shiny in Scarlet & Violet would have been great. I’ve gotten her regular form through Pokemon Go and past events in Black/White, X/Y, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, and Sun/Moon, so this latest catch didn’t pack too much of a punch. She’s one of the more common mythical Pokemon, so officially debuting her shiny form in The Indigo Disk would make the somewhat disappointing DLC more worthwhile.

How to get Meloetta in Pokemon SV Indigo Disk DLC

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Indigo Disk Meloetta Location

The way you find Meloetta in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is odd. Most of the time, Pokemon games either signpost you in the direction of the legendaries or mythical Pokemon they contain, or you get them as part of an event, which means there’s no legwork at all. In Indigo Disk, Meloetta is hidden well, and the clues you get to find her are relatively obscure.

To get Meoletta in Scarlet and Violet, you need to follow these instructions:

  1. Head to the Blueberry Academy Terarium.
  2. Pop over to the Coastal Biome.
  3. Proceed to the area marked in the above map.
  4. Look for a whirlwind blowing leaves in a circle between two small plants.
  5. Stand inside the whirlwind and rotate the analog stick clockwise until your character starts spinning.
  6. Continue turning the stick for around ten seconds.
  7. Quickly press down on the D-Pad to bring up the camera.
  8. Press left on the D-Pad five times to bring up the Sepia filter.

If you perform the steps correctly, the music will change, and you’ll see Meloetta spawn nearby. Now, just interact with her to start the battle.
