What Games Are You Playing? July 4, 2015

Wanting some fireworks that won't blow your fingers off? Try the card game Hanabi. This is a pretty fun cooperative card game for 2-5 players. Your goal is to put on a great fireworks show while not getting blown up, all while playing by some very tricky communication rules. You can't look at your own cards, but everyone else can — you hold them backwards. Yeah.

So then you can tell people little bits of information about their cards, and they need to make decisions based on their limited info. Do they trash a card? Play it and hope it's the one you need right now? Or hold on in favor of giving more info? Don't stall too long, though, because each info bit comes at a time cost. Gotta keep those fireworks moving!

(I promise it makes more sense when you have the cards and game setup. Like most games, the description alone doesn't quite get it all across.)

What are you playing?
