Resident Evil 2 Remake Confirmed

Capcom has been leaning heavily on the Resident Evil franchise lately with the release of Resident Evil HD Remaster and the upcoming HD update of Resident Evil 0. Now Resident Evil 2 can also be added to the list.

The sequel to the first game will receive a remake courtesy of Capcom. One of the game's producers, Yoshiaki Hirabyashi from R&D Division 1, confirmed the news on YouTube earlier today. He also sported a "We Do It" t-shirt to celebrate.

The video description includes an additional message from Hirabyashi.

“It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have pushed the project to get approved," he said. "The team here at Capcom Japan really appreciates fans’ passion and support and will do our best to bring fans what they really want.”

It's important to note that this is a "remake" and not simply a remaster, so Capcom may change some of Resident Evil 2's core mechanics. Nevertheless, the company won't have any new information to reveal on the project for "some time."

Are the GR Resident Evil fans out there excited about the news? I never played the second game in the series, so I'll have to fix that when the remake comes out.
