Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Will Not Feature the Original’s ‘Erotica’ Points

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster promises a fresh take on Capcom‘s classic zombie infestation game, and it’s just a few weeks away from being released. As well as bringing the 18-year-old title into the modern era, it looks like there’s one aspect from the original that won’t make it into the new version.

A new era for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

As noted by VGC, a report from Famitsu reveals Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster won’t feature the “erotica” points from the 2006 release. There aren’t any details about why this has been left out for the remaster; just that it won’t be present.

Of course, it’s not difficult to understand why Capcom would not want to include an erotic bonus feature in this day and age. Modern sensibilities mean that many have moved on from certain negative depictions, especially when it comes to female characters in video games.

For those who don’t know, Dead Rising allowed you to take photographs at any point during play – you are playing as a photojournalist, after all. In doing so, it was possible to receive Prestige Points (or “PP”) for snapping images of zombie violence or gore, as well as capturing some amusing stills.

It also allowed you to get PP for taking photos of female zombies in various states of undress, such as wearing a short skirt or even zooming in on underwear. This feature also extended to non-zombie women.

A similar thing happened with the remake of Resident Evil 4, in which Capcom decided to forgo the Easter egg that allowed Leon Kennedy (aka the player) to look up Ashely Graham’s skirt.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. In the meantime, you can view a Director’s Report, which gives some insight into the upcoming game.
