False Alarm: Persona 5 Is Staying PlayStation Exclusive

Persona's long-time PlayStation exclusivity was challenged this week when a rumor circulated that Persona 5's western release may end up on a platform not bearing the name PlayStation. Gamers were quick to question whether or not the game could arrive on PC or Nintendo Switch.

Atlus PR Manager John Hardin has stepped in with the final word, stating:

Persona 5 platforms: PS3, PS4.

Yakuza 0 platforms: PS4.

THAT'S. IT.

No Switch. No PC. Idk about the box label, that's a Sony thing.

The box label he's referring to is the reason for the rumors. An image of Persona 5's box art with the an "Exclusive" label on top raised eyebrows, mostly because Sony only uses the tag when the game is available on other platforms, just not Xbox.

As it turns out, the reason for the label was that Persona 5 is also coming to PS3, a fact that was revealed at the game's original launch more than a year ago.

We've already beaten Persona 5's Japanese version and consider it one of the greatest games releasing this year. To read our impressions of the game without spoilers, see here.
