The Elder Scrolls Online Is Headed To Morrowind In Epic First Expansion

It's been nearly three years since The Elder Scrolls Online was released. During that time it has improved dramatically on its way to becoming one of the most popular MMOs on the market. Looking to expand upon its offerings, Bethesda has revealed the game's first ever full-sized expansion.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind has been announced by Bethesda. This package will take players to the province of Morrowind, a Dunmer-majority territory located to the northeast of Tamriel. With its arrival, Vvardenfell will become the single largest zone in all of The Elder Scrolls Online.

2002's The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind prominently featured the territory with great results, having been considered one of the best RPGs of its time.

Vvardenfell will be home to hundreds of new quests and items to obtain. Its story will be centered around the Guardian of Vvardenfell, Vivec. Players will be sent on a journey to heal him of his wounds with the future of Nirn hanging in the balance.

For players looking to change up the gameplay experience, a new nature-based magical class will be added, called the Warden. Alongside its magical capabilities will be a pet War Bear that viciously attacks enemies on command.

Unlike most MMO expansions, players will not be required to complete any major milestones (i.e. hitting level cap) before jumping into Morrowind thanks to the level-scaling system delivered by the One Tamriel update in 2016.

The Elder Scrolls Online is currently buy to play with no subscription fee. The Morrowind expansion will have a standard edition priced at $39.99. Players will have the option to purchase it bundled with Tamriel Unlimited at $59.99, or even in a digital or physical collector's edition at $79.99 and $99.99 respectively, all with a release date of June 6th, 2017.

During February GameRevolution will get hands-on time with Morrowind. Feel free to leave any questions you have about the expansion in the comments below.
