Rumor: EA Pushing for Origin on Wii U

Hooray for rumors! They make otherwise boring things all the more intersting. Take the Wii U and EA's Origin, for example. Neither one is really exciting at the moment, but then a rumor comes along that mashes the two together to make for something newsworthy.

A new rumor from WiiUGo (not to be confused with UGoWii – that's a different site entirely) says that EA is "aggressively pursuading" Nintendo to use EA's Origin exclusively as the Wii U's digital distribution service.

Steam is supposedly interested in the Wii U, but EA is pushing Origin in order to boost its userbase and gain some ground over Steam.

It's just a rumor for now, but we do recall EA being exceptionally friendly with Nintendo at the Wii U unveiling at E3 2011. EA's CEO, John Riccitiello, even took the stage to talk about his company's relationship with Nintendo.

Either way, Nintendo will benefit from such a service. What is your take?
