Capcom Deploys Over 600 Workers For The Most Ambitious Resident Evil Yet

It's been a few years since we saw Resident Evil, and equally as many years as we've been sober from zombie nightmares, so when a sixth installment was announced earlier in the week, it didn't immediately set-in just how big of a deal it could be. Capcom is very serious about bringing Resident Evil back to the top of the heap, and naturally we should be terrified of what this might mean.

In Capcom's latest Resident Evil 6 developer message, Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi shared that the development team for Resident Evil 6 has over 600 people allocated, with 150 working from the Capcom headquarters in Japan. That's significantly more than what was used during the development of Resident Evil 5, and even more than the amount of people who actually liked the game.

Kobayashi sounds very convincing in the video, and even goes on to say that Resident Evil 6 is the most ambitious title in the series yet. That's saying a lot when you look back and remember the good times you've had with Wesker, lurkers jumping down from the ceiling, finding grenade launchers, and watching FMV videos of Jill Valentine. There's a lot of potential here and Capcom seems to be up to the task. Let's just hope they can crank up the fear factor, develop an intriguing story, and move the gameplay mechanics out of the 20th century.
