Electronic Arts Responds To Protest With Epic List Of Win

Consider me stunned. Yesterday, I reported on the online community Battlefieldo preparing a 24-hour blackout of Battlefield 3 due to getting the silent treatment from EA about patches and updates of their favorite game. As you will hear on the podcast to be posted tomorrow, we were dubious that this would get big corp EA to do anything about it. Well, we were wrong.

Electronic Arts, on the official Battlelog blog, has just responded with a confirmed list of fixes and tweaks, a list so thorough that it should halt the protest altogether. Though the poster zh1nt0 notes that the updates in the list are not final, he promises additional information as time goes forward "for all of our dear community members".

Pending changes include reducing the black screen fade on spawn, quickening the stand-up animation from prone, improving suppression of multiple weapons, having crouch and prone properly interrupt a sprint, making parachutes more responsive, and a bevy of changes to all the vehicles in the game. That's only the tip of the iceberg, as the list cites at least 200 adjustments.

Electronic Arts made a good calculated move here. They have apparently been working hard on a whole litany of issues, and there's hardly anything wrong with communicating all that work to fans who want them fixed. All it took is one post to make everyone happy. 2335 comments and counting.

A little bit of humanity has been restored to my soul.
