Assassin’s Creed III Screens Leak, Show Forest Gameplay

Following the reveal of Assassin's Creed III and its Revolutionary War setting, its American Indian protagonist, and its stabbing of several men in wigs, new in-game screenshots have slipped out of French publisher Ubisoft.

The screens showcase our new Assassin hiding among the North American forests while red coats patrol, camp, and tax the colonists without representation. Our Indian assassin seems to be more keen on tomahawking his foes than using a hidden blad though.

I will say this: I don't know how Assassin's Creed III's new setting will work. I don't know whether climbing trees will fit or how the developers behind this game will navigate the waters previously charted by other AC games (like how they've implied George Washington came to possess an Apple of Eden for some time). I'll just say that I'm intrigued and that I think the setting and time will offer something new to the series, something it desperately needs.

Assassin's Creed III is set for release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC late October.
