360 Getting New Disc Format, Needs Testers

Earlier today Xbox 360 pundit, Major Nelson announced that a new beta program would be launching soon to test the new disc format for the Microsoft branded console and that participants would snag themselves a free copy of Halo: Reach in exchange for letting the company tinker with their systems. The only catch is you have to be living in the US. And while you can sign up if you're a silver member, only gold members will get priority in the lottery.

I doubt that a new disc format is going to mean anything for us as players though. In all likelihood it's just MS doing their best to stay one step ahead of all the hackers out there looking to pirate their warez. But this is a pretty sweet chance to score a free copy of a decent game and possibly a few other prizes if you're deemed truly awesome (or just lucky). There's literally thousands of slots open, so if you live in the US, you may as well give it a shot and sign up.
