Believe it or not, Microsoft has recently been slaving away in an effort to improve the security of Xbox Live. In fact, the spring update that launched not too long ago laid the foundation for their efforts. According to Alex Garden, the general manager of Xbox Live, the spring update served to "build on security enhancements for the near future."
Considering the fact that Microsoft is expanding its online offerings within Xbox Live to offer much, much more than just video game content, there's no doubt that the scope of this online service is going to grow considerably over the next few years. As such, it makes sense for the company to want to build up a stronger security system.
With that said, Microsoft is suggesting that users look over their security information and update their passwords. And if the PlayStation Network debacle has taught us anything, it's to trust no one better to be safe than sorry.
