Super Mario Odyssey DLC Introduces Luigi’s Balloon World

Nintendo has unveiled some free Super Mario Odyssey DLC, with the upcoming update introducing Luigi’s Balloon World to the game.

Announced in today’s Nintendo Direct Mini, Luigi’s Balloon World is a new competitive mode that will see players hiding and then seeking out balloons placed by other players around the game. The mode can be accessed by talking to Luigi, who will task Mario with hiding a balloon away in a hard-to-find area, before attempting to uncover another balloon hidden by a player online.

The Super Mario Odyssey update will also see the addition of three new costumes, including a Super Mario Sunshine-themed shirt and glasses, knight armor and a musician’s outfit. New filters for Snapshot mode will also be introduced.

This is the first major update to Super Mario Odyssey, and while it doesn’t introduce a substantial amount of new content, it will certainly tide over players until more expansive DLC is released for it.

The Nintendo Direct Mini was broadcast today following a bunch of speculation, with Nintendo also revealing that Dark Souls Remastered and Mario Tennis Aces will be coming to the Switch. Watch the full presentation below:
