We hope you’ve been practicing your aiming skills, as Fortnite Sniper Shootout is a brand new game mode in the popular Battle Royale portion of the game that was just announced today by Epic Games. This limited time event is focused solely on sniper rifles and is surprisingly available right now across all three platforms.
Fortnite Sniper Shootout was announced today on the game’s official Twitter page. This sniper mode is a new limited time event that runs from right now until February 2nd, lasting less than a full week, so we recommend jumping in now to get the most out of it.
Digging deeper into the specifics of this new Fortnite Sniper Shootout mode, we know that it is a squad-only event. As sniper rifles are pretty ineffective at short-range, each player will also be able to use revolvers for close-up fights. This is just one of several limited events that Battle Royale has had since its release.
The new Fortnite Sniper Shootout mode comes just after a recent major update that overhauled the Battle Royale map and came with a ton of fixes. The map has been updated to include several new locations, specifically in the northwestern quadrant, that give players new places to hide and battle it out in like the Underground Mine.
Support for the game, like this new Fortnite Sniper Shootout mode, comes at the cost of development on Epic Games’ other titles like Paragon. It was announced just last week that Paragon will be shutting down for good this April. This came just after we broke news that a large portion of the Paragon development team had already shifted to work solely on Fortnite and its ever-popular Battle Royale mode.
