Wii U Launch Detailed For Japan, Arriving This December

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata broke the big news we've all been waiting for during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation. The Wii U will launch in Japan on December 8th and will be sold in two different bundles. The first is the Basic set, which includes a white Wii U, the GamePad and an 8GB hard drive. This package will be priced at ¥26,250 ($337).

Next up is the Premium option which includes a black Wii U, the GamePad, a 32 GB hard drive, a console stand, GamePad dock and a subscription to Nintendo Network Premium. This subscription will be valid for two years and offers 10% off game purchases as well as point rewards for buying games. This bundle will set Japanese gamers back ¥31,500 ($405).

As far as accessories are concerned, consumers can purchase the Pro Controller in white or black. The console stand, as well as the GamePad, dock and stand can each be purchased separately. The tablet controller itself is quite costly, with the GamePad and charging dock pack priced at ¥13,440 ($170). The company didn't detail a specific launch lineup, specifying that it will be revealed at a later event.

GameRevolution's fearless leader, Mr. Anthony Severino is in New York right now heading to the Wii U North American launch event, which is set to kick off at 10 AM EST. As such, be sure to keep it here at GR for all the breaking news from the show.
