Elite Dangerous: Beyond Chapter One Releases Next Week

Frontier Developments has announced that the third season of Elite Dangerous will begin with the release of Elite Dangerous: Beyond Chapter One on February 27th, 2018. The update will be free for all owners of Elite Dangerous.

Firstly, a Crime and Punishment system will be introduced to balance criminal acts and the consequences that come with it. This feature will make it more challenging for advanced players, more accessible for newer players and harder for Commanders who likes to hunt weaker prey. Advanced Tactical Response units will be deployed to hunt repeat offenders. To make PvP Open Play experience even fairer, the bounty system has been rebalanced, with added levels of notoriety.

The developer will also introduce a new mission reward system where players will be allowed to choose between three different sets of reward packages of equal value. Next, trade has been improved, with Trade Data made more accessible. This will be accomplished by changing the way information about commodity markets is made available, and making it possible for space truckers to find profitable routes without referring to guides. However, players will still have to explore the galaxy and add systems to their database before the info is accessible.

Additionally, the GalNet, which is the main source about important events taking place in the Milky Way, will be receiving an upgrade. Players will be able to access straight from their ship’s HUD with the GalNet Audio, giving them a chance to keep up to date on the latest updates and ongoing narrative while exploring the galaxy. Last but not least, Elite Dangerous Horizons owners will receive a new combat-focused ship, The Chieftain. It will be equipped with heavy weapons and high maneuverability but weak armor, rendering it more vulnerable to enemy attacks but highly effective in delivering damage.

Elite Dangerous: Beyond Chapter One is the first of four free updates coming in 2018. The following two Chapters will introduce new content whereas the final Chapter of Beyond will feature major operational changes to core systems in Elite Dangerous. This will come in the form of Squadrons, a new way for Commanders to manage player groups and participate in community goals together.

Elite Dangerous is a space adventure, trading, and combat simulation game developed and published by Frontier Developments. It was originally released for the PC in 2014 while it arrived later for the Xbox One and Ps4 in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
