Microsoft Reportedly Phasing Out MS Points

If converting dollars to Microsoft Points drives you insane, believe me, you are not alone. Fortunately, it looks like the Big M may finally be wising up, as a new report suggests that those pesky points will soon be a thing of the past.

According to The Verge, when purchasing content on the Xbox Video store through the Windows 8 beta, it defaults to credit card transactions. The option to pay with Microsoft Points is still there, but has been pushed aside in favor of real money.

Thank goodness. I mean honestly, who thought it was a good idea to have 800 MS Points equate to $10? It makes absolutely no sense—unless confusing the consumer is the end goal here. I know what you're thinking, but no, I don't think Microsoft is quite that evil.

Of course, since there's no official word that this change will be rolling out in a new dashboard update, we'll have to remain patient until we receive confirmation. Though, it's hard to imagine them not moving forward with this.
