CD Projekt Red showcases its reputation for dedication yet again as it releases yet another update for The Witcher 3 on the PS4 and PS4 Pro. It’s amazing how the game is still being supported by the Polish studio three years after originally being released in 2015. The new patch mostly aims to improve performance for PS4 Pro players, after players complained of problems arising from the previous update last month.
The Witcher 3 PS4 Update 1.62: Fixes For Previous Patch
The previous patch finally introduced HDR support for The Witcher 3 players on the PS4 and PS4 Pro. Xbox One and PC players already received the same treatment a while back. It also brought further game optimizations and bug fixes. Unfortunately, players came to realize that the update also caused a problem with reduced foliage draw distance when the game was running in 4K on the PS4 Pro.
Ironically, the HDR support patch made the game look better and worse at the same time. Fast-forward to the present and CD Projekt Red has released a new patch in update 1.62 that fixes the draw distance for foliage. The official Twitter account for The Witcher posted the details of the new patch earlier today.
The post reads: “The new hotfix for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available on PS4 and PS4 Pro! This update increases draw distance for foliage, while using 4K on PS4 Pro and applies to both, Vanilla and GOTY versions of the game.” There’s never been a better time for PS4 and PS4 Pro players to relive the adventures of Geralt and Ciri in glorious 4K HDR.
In other related news, The Witcher Netflix adaptation writer Lauren S. Hissrich revealed several details about the upcoming TV show. There will be eight episodes in total for the first season and the earliest possible release window for the TV show might be in 2020, considering that only the script for the pilot episode has been completed so far.
