Black Ops 4 blackout gameplay trailer

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Battle Royale Mode Revealed, No Single-Player Confirmed

The Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode has been revealed, with Call of Duty Blackout. The Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode has been confirmed to be included with the game at launch on October 12 and will essentially replace the game’s single-player campaign component, which is absent from this year’s release.

Whether you think they’re hopping on the Fortnite bandwagon or not, it’s a huge deal to have the first AAA bolt-on battle royale mode. The announcement, that came from the Jets Centre in LA, was met with hollering and whooping from those present. It’s clear that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Battle Royale is going to be big news.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout: What is the Call of Duty Battle Royale Mode?

“More ways to have fun with your friends than anything we’ve ever created,” was how Black Ops 4 was set up during the event’s opening minutes, and Battle Royale knocked down the pins in devastatingly fantastic fashion: 1500 times bigger than Nuketown, 10 years’ worth of Black Ops universe features including iconic maps, characters and weapons. Land, sea and air vehicles are all included too, should you want to bring the hurt from all corners of the map.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Single-Player: Will Black Ops 4 Have a Single-Player Campaign?

No single-player campaign may irk some, but battle royale is the big money-maker at this point in time; Black Ops 4 Battle Royale just makes sense from the perspective of those who worry about the bottom line.

The inclusion, too, of Black Ops assets hints at a gigantic map (1500 times bigger than Nuketown, remember) that will act as a patchwork effect of some of the series’ finest efforts. Parachuting down onto Havana and then rocking up to Raid a few clicks south in one cohesive environment? Sign me up.

Black Ops 4 Battle Royale may not have had too much of the curtain pulled back, we can expect that much to happen over at E3 next month, but one this is for certain: this is going to take over your gaming life for the foreseeable future. Fortnite, beware.
