Far Cry Dev Doesn’t Feel Threatened By Black Ops 2

The Far Cry franchise has made a name for itself by offering experiences that differ greatly from the conventional shooter, so it should come as no surprise to hear that Ubisoft remains confident in the selling power of its upcoming third installment.

In an interview with MCV, the brand manager at Ubisoft, Henri Guay explained that because “Far Cry has always been a little bit off the map in terms of the offer that it gives," the game will appeal to those who "are going to look for experiences that give them something a little bit different," adding:

We feel we’re in a comfortable spot.

I think we’re in a lucky situation where Ubisoft, through all levels of the organization, was ready to make a commitment to the brand. To have the support at an organization level to say we’re committed was great.

Product manager Dan Hay went on to explain why it was in their best interest to delay the game from its September release all the way to the beginning of December, adding:

Far Cry 3 is a big game and there’s an expectation. We wanted to make it as great as it absolutely can be. There were a couple of things we were talking about cutting from the game that I just couldn’t bear to take away from the consumer. So the reality is that we have made a very strategic choice.

Look for Far Cry 3 in stores on December 4th for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
