Disney Purchases Lucasfilm, Star Wars 1313 Development To Remain Unaffected

In case you haven't already heard, Disney announced yesterday that they purchased Lucasfilm Ltd. for the hefty sum of $4.05 billion. Crazy, I know—but what is even more insane is that we're getting Star Wars: Episode VII in 2015! Okay, I know this isn't a film site, but I just couldn't help myself. Onto gaming-related news…

At E3 this year, LucasArts revealed an exciting new game dubbed Star Wars 1313 that blew just about everyone who saw the live demonstration away. Well now that Disney owns Lucas, many are worried that this may somehow affect the game's development. To make matters worse, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Lucasfilm would be focusing more on tablet and mobile games than console experiences from here on out.

Fortunately, it looks like all current projects will continue on as planned. LucasArts released the following statement to IGN:  "For the time being all projects are business as usual. We are excited about all the possibilities that Disney brings."

So what do you think of Disney's big purchase? Let us know in the comments below.
