Should The Next Mass Effect Be A Prequel Or Sequel?

Things are changing big time for the Mass Effect franchise. Not only will BioWare's Montreal branch now be spearheading the next major installment, the game will be built from the ground up to take advantage of EA's Frostbite 2 engine.

Right now, the studio is in the very, very early stages of development and they're looking for advice from the fans. Whether or not this is a preemptive effort to avoid another fan outcry remains to be seen, but regardless, they're trying to decide whether to make a sequel or prequel to the original trilogy.

Executive producer Casey Hudson posted the following message on Twitter: "Parsing through your thoughts on the next #ME game. Would you be more interested in a game that takes place before the trilogy, or after?"
