Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta Release Date Announced for PS4

Hot off the heels of the multiplayer beta, Activision has just announced yet another one for Call of Duty Black Ops 4. However, this time, it’s for the mysterious battle royale mode. The Black Ops 4 Blackout beta will start on September 10 on PS4, with other platforms to follow at a later date.

According to the short announce trailer on the official Call of Duty Twitter account, the beta will have three different modes: solos, duos, and quads. Sorry, potential three-person teams. Outside of the logos, the trailer did not show any gameplay. We still haven’t seen what it looks like in action outside the tiny teaser in one of their last videos.

Pre-orders for the Xbox One and PS4 versions get access to the private Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta. Sadly, that does not apply to those who pre-order on the PC. The previous multiplayer beta last weekend, however, was open on the PC.

Speaking of the multiplayer beta from last week, players should not delete that (currently) vacant app off their system. This Blackout beta is going to use the same launcher. You most likely don’t want to download all 34 GB again on top of however big the battle royale mode is.

The multiplayer beta kicked off on August 3 on PS4 and then the following weekend on the Xbox One and PC. Call of Duty Black Ops 3, WWII, and Infinite Warfare all had their betas on PS4 first as well. And while Activision has not said exactly when the Blackout beta will come out for Xbox One and PC, it will likely be September 17 or September 24.

As was revealed in May, Blackout is a battle royale mode on the biggest map in series’ history that holds an, as of yet, still unconfirmed amount of players. Activision describes it as the “most players ever in franchise history against each other,” which is still not a solid number. Regardless, we will find out at, or before, the beta’s launch date next month.
