Bethesda: “We Clearly Have A New Franchise” With Dishonored

Despite the fact that Dishonored is a brand-new IP that launched extremely late in this console generation, it did incredibly well at both retail and among critics. As such, it appears that the publisher has big plans for the series going forward.

Bethesda PR boss Pete Hines told Destructoid that the future for Dishonored is bright, as the publisher plans to turn Arkane's new IP into a full-fledged franchise. “I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter,” he explained.

“We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the number one selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas," he added. "So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise.”

How would you feel about a sequel to Arkane's stealth action adventure game? Are you interested in finding out more about Dunwall or should they explore an entirely different location? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
