The Walking Dead: The Final Season has already started coming out on the digital storefronts. But, as is Telltale tradition, a physical release isn’t far behind. The disc version of the whole final season will be available to purchase later this year on November 6 on the PS4 and Xbox One for $29.99, which is $10 more expensive than the digital version. A Switch version will follow at a later date.

That release date is the same one as the release of the third episode, titled Broken Toys. Telltale briefly explained how the retail version will work. The Walking Dead: The Final Season retail edition will act as a season pass disc, and allow players to download the third and fourth episodes when they become available.
From what we know of previous Telltale season pass disc editions, players will have The Walking Dead: The Final Season‘s first two episodes already present on the disc. However, you will need to download the other two episodes using a voucher code.
As was previously mentioned, Telltale is no stranger to releasing retail discs of their games. The studio usually puts out the physical version after the first episode comes out. For example, Batman: The Enemy Within‘s second episode coincided with the release of the disc on October 3, 2017. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy retail release came between the series’ first and second episode.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season is set some years after the events of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. In this new set of episodes, Clementine is tasked with keeping AJ, the son of Rebecca from season two, alive in a zombie-infested world. The first episode, Done Running, was released on August 14 to critical acclaim due its solid character work an promising setup. Telltale is also releasing each follow-up episode in six-week increments and the next episode titled Suffer the Children is due out on September 25.
