Karma Gets The War Z’s Trademark Suspended

These zombies wish they were in a different game.

You may have heard about the tons of fallout from The War Z's developer being rude to its customers, but that's only the beginning.

The United States Patent & Trademark Office site shows The War Z's trademark as suspended. The reason is for the title's striking similarity—I'm seeing a trend here—to World War Z, a best-selling novel that came out six years ago.

One of the most interesting details on the page is when the original trademark was filed: July of this year. Given the unfinished and extremely rough state of the game, it appears that it only began development a few months ago. If that's the case, it's no wonder the team had to resort to stealing content, assets, and art from other media.

It looks like The War Z won't be the open world surival-horror game that breaks the genre out of its infancy. Hopefully a developer that knows what it's doing can see its promise and finally give us what we've all been waiting for without the BS.
