Left Alive Characters Trailer Released

Square Enix unveiled another trailer earlier today with a few new Left Alive characters in it. The mysterious new entry into the Front Mission series is due to release on March 5, 2019, on PS4 and PC. The game already has had a few character reveals but this trailer holds a few more.

Any Metal Gear Solid fans will likely think that these characters look familiar and they’d be right. Metal Gear character designer Yoji Shinkawa was also behind the character design for Left Alive. His inimitable style can be seen in all of Left Alive’s art. The newly released trailer gives us a good look at Shinkawa’s work, as well as giving us our first deep look at the main characters in Left Alive. Each one is themed after the military to some extent.

The trailer highlights Mikhail, a young Ruthenian staff sergeant; Olga, a confident police force captain from Nova Slava; and Leonid, an ex-member of the rebel movement. Leonid’s backstory involves him having been framed for murder and sentenced to death.

According to Square Enix (via Gematsu), Left Alive contains “a variety of action-packed playstyles in the war-torn city of Novo Slava, filled with pulse-pounding battles, stealth maneuvers, and much more.” All of these features are highlighted in the new trailer.

Left Alive sees Square Enix return to the Front Mission world for the first time since Front Mission Evolved back in 2010. The series began in 1995 on the Super Famicom in Japan. Back then, it was a tactical RPG. Since then, the series has been adapted into third-person shooters, real-time strategies, MMOs, and side-scrolling shooters. Left Alive is a third-person shooter and some stealth gameplay reminiscent of the Metal Gear series. Each game in the long-running series does have one thing in common: Mechs, which Left Alive also has.
