Crytek Opens New Studio Based In Texas, Headed Up By Vigil Co-Founder

The THQ auction came and went, and no one purchased Vigil Games. Fortunately for co-founder David Adams, this doesn't mean the end for him and his team, as Crytek has opened its first U.S. based studio which will be staffed by the Darksiders guys.

The studio, dubbed Crytek USA, will be located in Austin, Texas, with Adams serving as the head honcho. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the newest Crytek studio, which will boast some of the brightest development talent in the industry," Adams said.

Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli also spoke highly of the new studio, saying, “we are extremely excited about the work that we will be undertaking from our strategic new location in Austin, with David Adams and his team of 35 experienced developers.”

Gamasutra followed up on the news by inquiring whether or not this was basically a purchase of Vigil Games, to which Crytek's Jens Schafer responded by saying that it's "more like a new start for [the team at Vigil]."
