Dragon Age 4 Could Be Revealed at the Game Awards

It’s been over four years since Dragon Age Inquisition and things have been silent at BioWare regarding a possible fourth game in the series. Now the studio has revealed that there will be a big Dragon Age announcement in December, which may very well be the long-awaited Dragon Age 4. Of course, there’s already a games event in December filled with many exciting announcements, and that’s the Game Awards. Could Dragon Age 4 be revealed at the Game Awards? It’s entirely possible.

BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson posted the company’s latest blog entry today, and after talking about the developer’s newest franchise Anthem he turned to Dragon Age.

“We’re also working on some secret Dragon Age stuff,” he wrote. “Dragon Age is an incredibly important franchise in our studio, and we’re excited to continue its legacy. Look for more on this in the coming month (though I won’t tell you where to look…)”

The last point is especially noteworthy, especially as Hudson will be present at the Game Awards next week to show off Anthem. It’s logical to assume that this will not be the only game BioWare shows off at the event.

The Game Awards seem to be packed this year, with purportedly “more than 10 new games will be announced” at the show, according to host Geoff Keighley. These already include an original sci-fi RPG from Fallout New Vegas developer Obsidian, possibly a sequel to Alien Isolation called Alien Blackout, and maybe even a Superman game from the Batman: Arkham Knight team at Rocksteady.

While there’s no confirmation yet on whether Anthem will be the only BioWare game at the show, there will definitely be a Dragon Age announcement of some kind next month, and Dragon Age 4 is absolutely in production. You’ll have to tune in to the Game Awards next Thursday, December 6, to find out for sure.
