New Xbox To Feature Improved Siri-Like Voice Recognition

Next-Gen console news is really picking up. There is currently so much focus on the PlayStation 4 due to Sony's February 20th PlayStation Meeting 2013 in New York City where the console is expected to be unveiled. However, Microsoft isn't just standing by letting Sony steal all of the limelight.

We've heard about the new Xbox blocking used games sales, having a Windows 8-style interface and touch screen, but today a new report coming from The Verge and sources who are familiar with Microsoft's plan for the next Xbox (gotta love that anonymous source familiar with the matter cop out), says that the console will feature improved, Siri-like speech recognition technology.

Speech recognition is already found on the Xbox 360 through Kinect, but it's very basic. This improved tech will focus on interaction and context, allowing users to ask the Xbox what their friends are playing, tell it to play specific movies or games, and feature speech to text for sending messages over Xbox LIVE or Skype.

Expect Microsoft to debut the next Xbox at this year's E3, or possibly at a separate event ahead of E3 much like Sony is doing with their PlayStation Meeting in just thirteen days.

What else might be featured in the next Xbox? Here are 7 things we hope Microsoft includes.
