Spider-Man PS4 sales have made it the fastest-selling superhero game of all time. The open-world web-slinging adventure from Insomniac Games has done amazingly well, beating out all of its previous historical competition in just a few short months.
Insomniac Games have put a lot of love into their take on Spider-Man and it’s certainly paid off. US video games industry analyst Mat Piscatella reports on Twitter that Spider-Man PS4 sales have gone gangbusters in the first three months. Information sourced from the market research company The NPD Group indicates that Insomniac’s Spider-Man game on the PS4 has effectively become the fastest-selling superhero game in the history of the United States.

Spider-Man PS4 sales totaled 3.3 million copies in its first three days alone. It didn’t just do well in the United States—it was also the fastest-selling game of 2018 in the United Kingdom, handily beating out this year’s God of War release. It seems that the joy of swinging through a virtual Manhattan as the world’s favorite wall-crawler has a good deal of international appeal!
Adding to today’s news about Spider-Man PS4 sales is a nice trip down nostalgia lane. A tweet from the official PlayStation account has stated that the Spidey suit from the Sam Raimi movies is now available in the game. Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy was one of the franchises that led to the revival of the superhero movie in combination with the X-Men franchise; we arguably owe a measure of credit to both of these franchises for the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe that we all know and love today.
This announcement about the Spider-Man PS4 sales comes not too long after the release date for the Silver Lining DLC was announced. The new DLC is set to feature Silver Sable as she attempts to reclaim stolen Sable International technology from some particularly bold thieves. It also will be adding several new suits for Spidey and a bunch of upgrades to the game’s existing content.
