Soulja Boy Console Sales Halted Less Than a Month After Launch

Soulja Boy console sales have come to an end less than a month after their initial launch in early December of last year. Despite the rapper’s assertions that he wasn’t concerned about game companies coming after him, something has clearly happened behind the scenes leading to the removal of all of his gaming consoles from his online store. There were four consoles in total being sold on the SouljaWatch website. The SouljaGame Console and SouljaGame Fuze were home consoles and the SouljaGame Handheld and Retro SouljaBoy Mini were handheld devices.

The catalog of the SouljaWatch website has noticeably shrunk since he removed the consoles from sale. At the moment, the only products on offer are the SouljaWatch, SouljaPods wireless headphones, SouljaHeadphones, SouljaPad, and SouljaPhone HT70. The cessation of Soulja Boy console sales has effectively halved the Chicago-born rappers offerings on his online store. The stoppage of sales may also throw a wrench in his plans to open up a SouljaTech store in California. At the moment, the store’s website still lists “console” as one of the items it plans to sell if and when it opens for business.

Some of the consoles on offer had emulated games built right into the system. Notably, all four of these machines were available on Alibaba and similar sites at cheaper prices and a casual examination of the store page showed that they didn’t include any sort of special Soulja Boy branding or the like. Soulja Boy claimed these games were all properly licensed in a now-deleted tweet, but that may not have been the case in this particular situation. Rumors circulated that one of the gaming companies like Nintendo or SEGA would take legal action against the Soulja Boy console sales.

Whatever the reason may be, it seems that Soulja Boy console sales are no more. That’s not to say that the rapper is done with the gaming world — he’s still intent on launching on Esports team going by a tweet he made in late December. We’ll have to wait and see which games his team will compete in and who will join his organization.
