Leon’s Resident Evil 2 weapon is now an airsoft gun

Leon Kennedy is a (fictional) man with many talents. He’s adept at solving puzzles, roundhouse kicks and wearing cool jackets. But integral to his existence is shooting guns. Leon shoots many guns in his Resident Evil appearances, and now you can wield a Resident Evil 2 weapon in real life, albeit in airsoft form.

Tokyo Marui and Capcom announced (via Kotaku) that a limited edition version of Leon’s Lightning Hawk custom barrel pistol will go on sale next month. The new set will be available for an unannounced price. The Japanese airsoft manufacturer has worked with Capcom on similar airsoft pistols in the past, ranging from Albert Wesker’s Samurai Edge pistol to Dante’s pistols Ebony and Ivory.

The Resident Evil 2 weapon will come in a wooden case based on those found in the game. The Lightning Hawk set includes the 10-inch barrel, a 6-inch barrel, and the Lightning Hawk pistol frame. The set is made from stainless steel and can be configured with either size barrel. The airsoft gun uses a gas blowback system similar to other premium airsoft guns on the market.

The Lightning Hawk is a fictionalized version of the real-world IMI Desert Eagle pistol. It uses .50 caliber ammunition with a 7 round magazine. Leon can find the weapon inside the Raccoon Police Department armory. The long barrel mod can be found in the underground facility after inserting a S.T.A.R.S. badge into the special weapons case. In Resident Evil 2 Remake it increases damage while reducing recoil. Players can also add a red dot sight to the Lightning Hawk.

Importing the Marui-made Resident Evil 2 weapon might prove challenging as the limited-edition airsoft gun is subject to a variety of laws regarding firearms and airsoft guns. Of course, if you’re a huge fan then you’ll make it happen, but expect to jump through some hoops. Red Wolf Airsoft has imported and sold a number of Resident Evil Tokyo Marui airsoft guns in the past, however, and may be able to get a hold of the Lightning Hawk.
