Thurrott: Subsidized Xbox Infinity “Scrapped,” Illumiroom To Be Shown At Xbox Reveal

Tech blogger Paul Thurrott has been the source of a number of Xbox 720-related rumors over the past couple of months, one of which you may recall claimed that Microsoft would be pursuing a subsidized pricing strategy with its new console.

Apparently that is no longer the case. According to a Twitter post from Thurrott, the Big M has scrapped such plans. Interestingly enough, however, the company will allegedly be showing off its Illumiroom technology during the reveal event tomorrow. "A couple of Xbox news tidbits ahead of the launch… Illumiroom will be part of Tues event, subsidized Xbox v.Next model has been scrapped," he said.

Do you think Microsoft will end up going with a subsidized option, or are they better off ditching the idea? Are you excited at the prospect of seeing Illumiroom implemented during the grand console debut tomorrow? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.
